Rushville, NE saw a multi-zone hail storm on July 26, 2025, with verified hail up to 1.75 inches. The event produced four NWS alerts across the evening and overnight period.
The first alert came at 5:10 PM CDT with 1.25-inch hail in the Rushville area. Radar and spotter reports both supported that call.
A second alert followed at 5:59 PM CDT and raised the hail size to 1.75 inches. That was the peak confirmed size for the storm. The confidence level again came from radar and spotter verification.
Two later alerts extended the hail threat into the night. At 11:37 PM CDT, dual-polarization radar detected 1.5-inch hail. At 12:18 AM CDT on July 27, the final alert carried a 1-inch hail estimate based on the NWS warning area alone.
This was a concluded event. The storm sequence covered late afternoon through just after midnight, with the strongest hail reported in the early evening.
Hail in the 1.25-inch to 1.75-inch range can leave concentrated impact marks on vehicles, denting on softer metal surfaces, and bruising on exposed siding, trim, and roof accessories. In Rushville, the 1.75-inch peak raises the likelihood of visible loss across exterior surfaces, especially on newer damage that has not yet been weathered over.
The 1.5-inch radar-derived alert and the later 1-inch warning-only alert suggest the hail field widened and weakened as the storm evolved. That kind of spread can produce uneven impacts across a town. One side of a roof may show clear strike marks while another nearby section shows only light cosmetic damage. Metal awnings, gutters, vents, and skylight frames are common inspection points after a storm in this size range.
Field crews should expect scattered but credible hail-related claims, not uniform damage across every address inside the NWS alert area. The strongest evidence in this event points to a compact early evening core, followed by later weaker hail signatures.
Start with the 5:59 PM CDT alert window. That is the highest-confidence marker in the sequence and the best anchor for canvass planning. Focus first on roofs with south- and west-facing exposures, then move to vehicles, window screens, gutters, and exterior trim. Use close-range photo documentation on the first pass. Hail at 1.75 inches can produce light bruising on asphalt shingles and visible dents on soft metal components even when a roof does not show obvious missing material.
Use the later alerts to widen the inspection footprint. The 11:37 PM CDT radar-derived hail and the 12:18 AM CDT warning-only alert point to a longer storm track through the Rushville metro area. That supports follow-up checks in outlying streets and rural edges where impacts may be lighter but still present. Keep estimates tied to the exact property, since hail effects can vary block by block inside the same warning area.
