Macks Creek, MO saw a concluded hail storm on 2025-08-10 with a peak confirmed hail size of 1 inch. The event produced 14 storm alerts across the evening and overnight hours.
The storm first reached 1 inch hail confidence at 5:13 PM CDT and repeated that size through 10:43 PM CDT. Early alerts came in close together at 5:13 PM, 5:16 PM, and 5:33 PM CDT. Additional radar-derived hail detections followed at 6:00 PM, 6:03 PM, 6:05 PM, and 6:31 PM CDT.
The most direct ground-truth support came at 7:25 PM CDT, when the hail size was 1 inch with radar and spotter verification. More dual-polarization radar alerts followed at 7:44 PM, 7:50 PM, and 8:15 PM CDT. Late-night alerts continued at 10:06 PM and 10:40 PM CDT, ending with a final 10:43 PM CDT warning-only alert.
This was a drawn-out hail-producing storm with repeated 1-inch detections rather than a brief pulse. The warning area covered the broader storm path through the Macks Creek metro area during the event window.
One-inch hail is enough to break soft metals, dent vehicle panels, and leave visible marks on roof slopes, gutters, and vents. It can chip window screens and damage skylights, especially on direct hits and exposed faces.
In residential work, check asphalt shingles for bruising, loss of granules, and impact marks around ridge lines, hips, and field shingles. Look closely at metal accessories. Fascia, downspouts, chimney caps, and roof flashing often show the first clean impact points. On siding, test for dents around corners, trim returns, and upper elevations facing the storm track.
Vehicles are a common loss point in 1-inch hail. Inspect hoods, roofs, mirrors, and windshields for pitting and glass stress. On commercial roofs, membrane scarring and accessory damage may appear before obvious interior leaks. HVAC units, pipe boots, and exposed coils should be checked in the field before tarping or temporary protection begins.
Start with a roof-to-ground walk. Document the roof slope, elevation, and windward exposures before cleanup begins. Use close-range photos of impact points on shingles, flashing, vents, and metal trim. For multi-building properties, separate each structure by address and roof type so the claim record stays organized.
Watch for delayed findings. A roof can pass a quick visual check and still show bruise patterns, lifted tabs, or cracked seals after a full inspection. Siding dents, gutter deformation, and window damage often line up with the heaviest hail path rather than the broad warning area. Prioritize the north- and west-facing sides only if the field evidence supports that orientation.
For retail, school, and light industrial sites, roof-mounted equipment needs the same review as the roof deck. HVAC housings, conduit runs, and metal coping can show the event pattern more clearly than the membrane. Keep measurements tight. Use inch marks, photo tags, and time stamps from the day of loss.
