A severe hail storm moved through Cypress, Texas, on Nov. 24, 2025, producing 1-inch hail and multiple spotter-verified reports of tree and building damage across northwest Harris County. The storm activity came in two waves, with the first round near 1:10 PM CST and a later cluster of alerts in the evening.
NWS alerts at 1:10 PM CST and 1:38 PM CST carried radar and spotter-verified confidence for 1-inch hail. Later alerts at 7:04 PM CST, 7:25 PM CST, and 7:57 PM CST also carried 1-inch hail signatures from dual-polarization radar. The sequence shows a sustained hail threat across the Cypress area through the afternoon and into the evening.
Field reports came in close to the first round of warnings. At 1:26 PM CST, photos from Lake Riata Lane showed debris spread across the area, downed trees, and visible roof damage to homes. At 1:41 PM CST, a storm chaser documented numerous downed trees and roof damage along Village Hills Drive in Colony Creek. Broadcast media later reported trees falling onto cars and homes near Summer Grove Circle and near Colony Creek Drive at Bayou Bluff Drive.
The same storm produced rotation and a brief tornado report in the broader Cypress and Spring area. A spotter near Grant Road reported a funnel cloud at 1:36 PM CST and then observed it reach the ground as a weak tornado. Another report at 1:57 PM CST described a rotating funnel near Spring that did not appear to touch down. At 1:29 PM CST, a storm chaser shared video of light debris lofting from the storm as rotation became visible.
The surface damage in Cypress was not limited to isolated tree limbs. Reports described downed trees, roof damage, scattered debris, and vehicles struck by falling limbs in several neighborhoods. The most detailed account came from the Klein Fire Department administration complex along Stuebner Airline Road, where debris was scattered across the site, fences were down, traffic cones were displaced, siding was peeled off part of the engine building, and a metal shed was lofted and crushed in the adjacent neighborhood.
At Lake Riata Lane, observers saw debris across yards and streets with downed trees and roof damage on homes. In Colony Creek, storm photos showed multiple trees down, including one large uprooted tree, with roof damage visible on nearby homes along Village Hills Drive. Broadcast reports near Colony Creek Drive and Bayou Bluff Drive added more tree fall onto cars in the area.
Summer Grove Circle also saw tree damage severe enough to strike both homes and vehicles. The pattern across these reports points to a corridor of concentrated surface impact through northwest Cypress, with damage spread across residential streets and public facilities rather than one small point source.
The hail reports and the damage reports do not describe the same impact at every location. Some areas had clear hail detection with little documented ground damage, while others had tree loss, roof damage, and lofted debris from the same storm system. The alert timeline places the hail threat over Cypress in more than one burst, and the field reports show that parts of the area also dealt with rotating wind and brief tornadic circulation.

Try the Free Demo →Crews working Cypress after this event should focus first on the neighborhoods named in the field reports. Lake Riata Lane, Village Hills Drive, Summer Grove Circle, Stuebner Airline Road, and the Colony Creek and Grant Road corridors all had verified impacts. Roof checks should start with the homes where photos already showed visible shingle or roof-cover damage, then move to adjacent structures with downed trees or lofted debris nearby.
Tree fall is part of the repair load here. Several reports mention large limbs or whole trees onto homes and cars. That means roof tarping, fence repair, vehicle impact documentation, and emergency tree removal may all be part of the same job site. The Klein Fire Department complex adds a commercial and municipal repair element, with siding damage and damaged site equipment reported in the same area.
The storm also produced a tornado report near Grant Road and additional rotation farther south and east. Contractors should expect mixed damage patterns. Some roofs may show hail impact only. Others may have tree strike damage, wind damage, and debris impact in the same footprint. Watch the neighborhoods north and west of the core Cypress business areas first, then work outward toward the reported damage streets.
