A severe hail storm tracked through Conrath, Wisconsin, on the evening of June 5, 2026, producing 1.75-inch stones and generating multiple radar and spotter alerts. The event produced a long-running NWS alert sequence across the Conrath area between 4:28 PM and 9:52 PM CDT.
Sixteen NWS alerts were issued for the Conrath metro area between 4:28 PM and 9:52 PM CDT. Early dual-polarization radar returns showed modest hail signatures in late afternoon. Radar echoes intensified during the early evening with the most significant radar return occurring at 7:03 PM CDT. Emergency management in the Conrath coverage area reported ping-pong-ball sized hail around 8:14 PM CDT, with multiple identical spotter entries logged at that time.
After the spotter-verified observations, the NWS continued issuing warning-area updates and radar-only hail detections into the late evening. Several alerts in the 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM window recorded lower radar-derived sizes and warning-only advisories while at least one alert combined radar detection with spotter verification. The sequence shows a storm that strengthened through the early evening and then produced intermittent hail signatures while moving across the Conrath service area.
Emergency management reports from Conrath at 8:14 PM CDT described ping-pong-ball sized hail within their jurisdiction. Those spotter-verified field reports indicate localized surface impact in and immediately around the Conrath municipal area. On-site accounts from emergency management specifically referenced multiple reports of vehicle denting and damage to exposed outdoor equipment within their coverage footprint.
Radar-derived hail swaths align with the municipal spotter reports, showing a corridor of repeated hail echoes crossing town during the early evening. Later NWS warning-only alerts extended that corridor, indicating scattered follow-on hail activity across adjoining townships. Field reports did not include widespread structural collapse or major infrastructure failures. Observed impacts were concentrated in populated pockets identified by emergency management and the spotter logs.
Inspect properties documented in Conrath emergency management reports first. Start with easily photographed assets: vehicle roofs, aluminum and metal siding, HVAC condenser fins, and exposed outdoor equipment within the municipal boundary. For roofs, look for pock marks on asphalt shingles, displaced granules in gutters, and localized shingle edge fractures. Note the spotter time stamp of 8:14 PM CDT when documenting damage; include a ruler or coin in close-up photos to show hail-scale reference.
Prioritize interiors where exterior damage is apparent. Leaks tied to hail impact often appear within days. Record pre-existing conditions and take multiple angles of each defect. For insurance and repair estimates, list each affected address with GPS or clear cross-street reference and include the time window of local spotter reports. In rural properties adjacent to Conrath, focus inspections along the radar-aligned corridor that received repeated echoes during the 7 PM to 9 PM CDT timeframe.
