Peace Valley, MO experienced a multi-zone severe hail event on June 6–8, 2026, with a peak hailstone measured at 2.75 inches. The event has concluded.
NWS issued 35 alerts for the Peace Valley area between 7:54 PM CDT on June 6 and 7:39 AM CDT on June 8. Most alerts were NWS warning only notifications; four alerts included dual-polarization radar hail detection. Radar-detected hail sizes from those detections ranged from about 0.88 inch to 1.22 inches. Several warning-only alerts recorded no radar-sized hail echoes while passing over portions of the metro.
The sequence shows repeated warning cycles through late evening into early morning, indicating one or more cells redeveloping along the same corridor. Specific radar-detected timestamps include June 8 at 12:08 AM CDT and early morning returns between 5:01 AM and 7:39 AM CDT. Field reports and local observations narrowed the affected zones to multiple neighborhoods inside the broader NWS warning area.
Radar-detected swaths and repeated warnings produced hail sufficient to dent vehicles and bruise siding in exposed locations. Hail in the 0.75–1.25 inch range typically damages aluminum trim, cracks single-layer asphalt shingles, and dents metal roofing. Repeated hail passes increase shingle granule loss and can accelerate roof wear in affected patches.
Hail exceeding 2 inches is capable of breaking skylights, shattering single-pane glass, and causing significant vehicle body damage. Where field reports and local imagery indicate larger stones, expect concentrated impact to roofs, HVAC units, and exterior fixtures. Storm activity in Peace Valley included areas where multiple warning cycles overlapped, increasing the likelihood of cumulative damage along those tracks.
Prioritize visual and photographic documentation of roof fields where multiple warnings overlapped. Inspect for granule loss, split or missing shingles, and localized punctures. Photograph each elevation with a scale reference and geotag images where possible. Check gutters, downspouts, and exposed HVAC condensers for denting and hail impact; note that accumulations of dented metal debris can accelerate water infiltration during subsequent rain.
Safety and repair workflow: do not walk wet or steep roofs without fall protection. Tarp only where necessary to stop active leaks and document tarp placement for scope-of-work records. Provide line-item estimates for full-field shingle replacement where granule loss is widespread, and for spot repairs where damage is isolated to vents, flashing, or fascia. Include time-stamped inspection photos in all claims packages and recommend a follow-up inspection after the next significant rainfall to confirm watertight repairs.
