A strong hail-producing storm tracked through Solomon, KS on June 10, 2026, producing a peak 2.96-inch stone during the early evening. The event generated a long sequence of NWS alerts and numerous spotter submissions across the metro.
Forty-three NWS alerts were issued for the Solomon area between 6:01 PM CDT and 11:17 PM CDT on June 10, 2026. Those messages included 23 dual-polarization radar detections, two radar-plus-spotter verifications, one spotter-only alert, and 17 NWS warning-only notices. Alerts recorded progressive hail growth through the storm cycle, with multiple radar-detected cores moving across the metro in the late afternoon into the early evening.
Observers in Solomon posted multiple social-media submissions at 8:15 PM CDT reporting 2.75-inch stones. Additional spotter posts at 9:20 PM CDT documented 2.5-inch stones. Earlier in the sequence, spotters shared reports at 6:42 PM CDT of 2.0-inch stones and at 6:44 PM CDT of 1.75-inch stones. Several entries at 7:27 PM CDT described very heavy rain coincident with measured quarter- to half-dollar-size hail in places.
Dual-polarization radar flagged repeated hail cores along the same corridor identified by spotters. Two alerts combined radar detection with on-the-ground verification, and one separate spotter report matched a radar core later in the evening. NWS warning polygons covered the broader track of the storm while radar-detected hail echoes narrowed the likely strike swaths across town.
Field submissions show multiple large stones collected and photographed in Solomon during the event. The cluster of 8:15 PM CDT 2.75-inch reports is the most numerous set of spotter entries. Additional 2.5-inch submissions at 9:20 PM CDT and earlier submissions of 2.0-inch and 1.75-inch hail document a multi-wave impact across residential areas of the metro.
Observers also reported very heavy rainfall around 7:27 PM CDT, increasing the potential for shingle lift and washout of rooftop granules where large hail struck. At the time of reporting there were no centralized official damage tallies included with the spotter submissions; damage indicators in the local submissions consist primarily of stone measurements and imagery rather than organized loss reports.
Radar-detected hail cores aligned with the times and locations of the largest spotter submissions. Those overlaps indicate concentrated surface impact in the corridors where large stones were photographed and described. Contractors and insurers inspecting properties should prioritize addresses along those radar-aligned paths and the clusters of spotter activity recorded at 8:15 PM CDT and 9:20 PM CDT.
Start inspections in the neighborhoods closest to the 8:15 PM CDT cluster of 2.75-inch reports and the 9:20 PM CDT cluster of 2.5-inch reports. Check roofs for impact patterning consistent with large stones: localized shingle breaks, missing tabs, and concentrated granule loss beneath the impact footprints are common where multiple large stones fell. Photograph stones in place and record stone diameter with a ruler or measuring tape for each claim file.
