Yellville, AR experienced a multi-phase hail event on June 12–13, 2026, producing a peak radar-detected hailstone of 2.48 inches and a prolonged sequence of NWS alerts and radar swaths. The event generated 27 NWS alerts and ended by early evening local time.
Activity began pre-dawn with an early NWS warning at 3:29 AM CDT and intensified the following day through mid-afternoon and early evening. The alert sequence included numerous NWS-warning-only messages and multiple dual-polarization radar detections across the Yellville metro. Notable radar-detected hail reports occurred in the early afternoon around 1:13 PM CDT and again in the mid- to late-afternoon, with a spotter-verified hail report logged at 2:44 PM CDT. Radar returns showed repeated hail swaths between roughly 1 PM and 5:45 PM CDT. The storm status is concluded.
Radar-detected hailstones and a spotter-verified report indicate hail large enough to dent metal, crack or dislodge older asphalt shingles, and break vulnerable glazing. Multiple radar detections above one inch and a number of NWS warning-only alerts overlapped populated parts of the Yellville metro. Vehicle denting, bruised or missing roof granules, and damaged siding are plausible where the radar swaths and the spotter report coincide. No large-scale collapse or structural failure reports are available in the alert stream.
Perform targeted inspections in locations aligned with the radar-detected swaths and the 2:44 PM CDT spotter-verified location. Prioritize photographic documentation of hail impacts at street level and of roofing from ground and safe elevated positions. Record measurements of hail impressions and any displaced roofing material. Document weather conditions at the time of inspection when possible.
Begin with safety and triage. Confirm site access and power status before any roof work. Use geotagged photos and time-stamped measurements for each structure. Inspect vehicle fleets, HVAC units, solar panels, and exposed metalwork for dents and perforations. Check attic and interior ceilings for secondary water intrusion. For roofing, focus first on soft metals and older three-tab shingles, then on composite and impact-rated materials.
Estimate repair priorities by combining local radar swath overlap with the spotter-verified location at 2:44 PM CDT. Prepare itemized scopes that note whether a location falls inside the radar-detected hail swath or was only covered by an NWS warning polygon. Keep crew safety plans and temporary tarping supplies ready for immediate triage where water intrusion is present. Coordinate documentation for insurance submissions and consider rapid stabilization steps ahead of full repairs.
