Kiln, MS – June 18, 2026: A concluded severe storm system produced up to 0.75-inch hail across the Kiln area. NWS warning-area alerts were issued repeatedly through the day.
NWS issued 43 separate warning-area alerts for the Kiln metro on June 18, 2026. Alerts began at 1:43 AM CDT and continued intermittently through the morning and early afternoon, with the final alert at 6:45 PM CDT. The sequence included clusters of activity in the early morning and again in mid- to late-morning. All alerts were designated NWS warning only in the available records.
Radar-derived signatures prompted the recurring NWS warning-area alerts, and the messaging cycle shows repeated reissuance rather than a single continuous polygon. The event had a concluded status by late evening on June 18. No on-site spotter reports are included in the alert sequence provided here.
Hail at the size reported typically produces cosmetic damage to exposed vehicle surfaces, including paint chips and small dents on vulnerable panels. Asphalt-shingle roofs may show localized granular loss and bruising along edges and ridgelines. Soft materials such as vinyl siding and screen fabric are prone to tearing or puncture where hail impacts concentrate.
Immediate visible damage often appears as circular dents on metal equipment and HVAC units, broken leaves and stripped foliage on landscaping, and surface scuffs on exterior furniture. Structural penetration is uncommon at this size but can occur on aged roofing or thin metal coverings. Document observed damage with time-stamped photos and a simple location note for each record.
Inspect roofs first for signs of granule displacement, bruising, and cracked or split shingles. Walk accessible roof planes cautiously and use binocular checks from the ground where safety is a concern. Prioritize edges, ridges, hips, and south- and west-facing slopes. Measure and record hail impressions when possible; include a scale object in every photograph and record GPS coordinates or a street address for each observation.
For vehicles and exterior equipment, sort claims by severity and take standardized photos of each side. Secure temporary protections for exposed openings and soft materials to prevent secondary water damage. Prepare concise scope notes that reference the NWS warning-area sequence for June 18, 2026, and verify on-site findings against any radar-based hail track products before final estimates.
