Springfield, CO recorded a concluded hail event on June 20, 2026 that produced up to 1.55-inch hail and tracked through the metro from late afternoon into early evening.
The storm began in the late afternoon and produced two NWS alerts as it moved across Springfield. At 4:28 PM MDT, dual-polarization radar detected hail near 1.12 inches as the cell intensified. The storm re-developed and prompted an NWS warning at 6:09 PM MDT that cited up to 1-inch hail within the warning area. This report aggregates those two alerts into a multi-zone summary covering the metro area. The event is concluded.
Radar and warning sources. The earliest alert came from NEXRAD dual-polarization hail detection at 4:28 PM MDT, followed by a later NWS-issued warning at 6:09 PM MDT. The radar-derived detection identifies a concentrated swath through the metro; the later warning covered a broader NWS alert area as the system moved east-southeast.
Properties and vehicles located along the radar-detected swath and within the later NWS warning area should be inspected for impact damage. Exterior building materials such as older asphalt shingles and vinyl siding are at elevated risk where ice impacts were concentrated.
