West Monroe, LA experienced a concluded hail event on June 22–23, 2026, producing peak hail up to 2.22 inches and a mix of radar-detected and NWS-warning-only alerts. The storm produced 18 NWS alerts as it moved through the metro warning area overnight into late evening.
The sequence began at 11:03 PM CDT on June 22 and continued through 10:25 PM CDT on June 23, with 18 separate NWS alerts issued for the West Monroe warning area. Dual-polarization radar detected hail signatures on five alerts, including detections at 11:03 PM CDT (June 22), 4:22 AM CDT, 5:17 AM CDT, 9:03 AM CDT, and 3:08 PM CDT (June 23). Those radar-derived signatures registered a range of larger returns across the metro. The remaining 13 alerts were NWS warning only, many reporting smaller hail sizes or no hail while warnings remained in effect.
Radar-derived hail signatures were intermittent through mid-morning and re-developed in the late afternoon into early evening. The alert sequence shows concentrated radar detections in the pre-dawn and mid-afternoon time windows, with sustained NWS warning polygons extending the coverage well beyond the strongest radar returns. Field verification is limited in the public alert stream; radar-detected signatures and the NWS warning area together define where hail risk was reported and where follow-up inspections are recommended.
Radar detections across the event recorded hail signatures from roughly 0.75 inch to 1.85 inch at multiple times, while NWS-warning-only alerts included several reports of smaller or no hail. Hail this size range in the West Monroe warning area is capable of producing measurable damage to exposed assets.
For residential properties, expect granule loss and bruising on aged asphalt shingles where larger signatures tracked across neighborhoods. For commercial roofing, impact to low-slope membrane and metal panels can occur where returns were strongest. Vehicles left outdoors in the warning area are susceptible to denting on body panels and broken glass on larger impacts.
