Carriere, Mississippi experienced a multi-zone hail event on June 23–24, 2026, producing hail up to 1.56 inches and generating repeated NWS warning-area alerts. The storm is concluded.
An initial NWS warning-area alert for 1.00-inch hail was issued at 4:01 PM CDT on June 23. Additional NWS warning-area alerts followed on June 24 between 2:36 PM CDT and 4:42 PM CDT. Twelve NWS warning-area alerts were recorded in the aggregate sequence.
NEXRAD radar-derived hail detections drove the warning sequence. The majority of individual advisories cited hail diameters of 0.75 inch to 1.25 inch. Each alert in the record is labeled as NWS warning only. No spotter-verified local storm reports are included in those warning-area alerts.
The event tracked across multiple notification zones around Carriere in the late afternoon and into the early evening. The warning-area polygons shifted northeast as the line progressed. Field crews and residents reported intermittent heavy rainfall concurrent with hail-bearing cores.
NWS warning-area advisories for this event primarily referenced hail sizes from 0.75 inch to 1.25 inch. Hail in that range commonly causes cosmetic and surface damage to exposed materials. Expect denting of vehicle body panels and metal trim in Carriere and adjacent zones that were under warning-area alerts.
Asphalt shingle bruising and loss of granular surfacing are plausible on south- and west-facing roof slopes where hail fell with high intensity. Metal siding and aluminum trim are likely to show dimpling and paint scuffing. Glass damage is less likely for the reported advisory sizes, but localized breakage can occur on older skylights and unsecured greenhouse panels.
Document visible hail impacts with dated photos and location notes tied to the specific NWS warning-area polygon that covered the property. Prioritize inspection of vehicle fleets and flat or low-slope roofing in neighborhoods noted in the June 23–24 advisories.
Conduct an initial exterior triage before any roof access. Photograph roofing, gutters, HVAC condensers, and vehicle panels from multiple angles with timestamps and location references. Note the applicable NWS warning-area alert times and polygon identifiers when filing claims or estimates. Use metal pry bar checks and hand-feel inspections for soft-spot shingle damage rather than assuming replacement for entire roof sections.
Plan work around wet conditions and potential soft substrate. Secure tarps and materials to prevent secondary water intrusion while awaiting repairs. Prioritize temporary water mitigation for low-slope roofs and damaged skylights. Communicate clearly with property owners about what is included in scope estimates and attach dated photographic documentation tied to the warning-area alert window.
