A severe hail storm tracked through Glyndon, Minnesota, on June 29, 2026, producing large hail and a distinct radar-detected hail swath in the late evening. The event generated 22 NWS warning areas and multiple dual-polarization radar hail detections between 8:22 PM and 1:14 AM CDT.
The storm complex entered the Glyndon area in the early evening and persisted into the overnight hours. NWS issued 22 separate warning areas between 8:22 PM CDT and 1:14 AM CDT as the system moved northeast. Dual-polarization radar showed several pulses of large hail, with notable radar-indicated returns at 9:02 PM CDT and additional radar detections later in the evening. Many of the NWS alerts were warning-area only; several detections were specifically radar-derived.
A local spotter near Glyndon reported hail around 8:15 PM CDT, with the observer noting that the timing was estimated from radar. Radar and warning-area timing align with the spotter observation, placing the most intense hail echoes over Glyndon and extending northeast along the storm track. Activity tapered after 1:00 AM CDT as the system moved away from the metro area.
Field observations and radar detections indicate a concentrated hail swath centered on Glyndon and extending northeast into adjacent rural sections. The only ground-truth report in the dataset came from a spotter in Glyndon who provided an on-the-ground observation coincident with the strongest radar returns. Radar-indicated hail echoes passed directly over residential and agricultural parcels northeast of town during the late-evening window.
No additional public ground surveys were included with these data. Where radar echoes and NWS warning areas overlap populated parcels, expect localized impact to exposed surfaces and parked vehicles in driveways and farmyards. Prioritize inspections along the primary northeast track shown by the radar detections and the sequence of NWS warning areas issued between 8:22 PM and 1:14 AM CDT.
Event timing: late evening into early morning increases the likelihood of vehicles parked outdoors and unshaded equipment. Start field triage by identifying properties within the NWS warning areas and along the northeast radar track. Photograph overall property context first, then document specific impact points with scale reference. Note time of call and compare to the radar time window when prioritizing jobs.
Inspection priorities: roofs, soft-metal surfaces, HVAC condenser coils, solar arrays, and vehicle fleets. Look for shingle bruising, torn tabs, and localized granule loss on asphalt roofs. Inspect metal roofing and siding for dent patterns consistent with large, discrete impacts. Check condenser fins for pinching or perforation. For solar arrays, inspect cell substrates and mounting hardware for concentrated impact clusters.

Try the Free Demo →Repair triage and documentation: use consistent before/after framing and a small ruler or coin for scale on close-ups. For suspected severe impact areas, recommend temporary tarping when interior exposure is possible. Record insurance claim details on-site: exact address, GPS, photos of approach shots, and the job-time relative to the 8:15 PM to 1:14 AM CDT window. For larger agricultural operations, prioritize outbuildings and rolling stock often left outdoors.
