The event unfolded in late afternoon and continued into the evening. NWS issued 80 alerts between 1:55 PM and 10:52 PM EDT, including numerous NWS warning-only messages and several radar-detected hail cores. Dual-polarization radar returns flagged elevated hail signatures at 2:12 PM, 2:16 PM, 2:26 PM and 2:33 PM, and additional radar hits later in the afternoon as the storm complex moved through the Jefferson metro.
Field observers reported localized surface impacts in the mid-afternoon storm core. Social-media and local storm reports described 1-inch hail in Dysartsville around 2:30 PM EDT, and an mPING report recorded 1-inch hail near Landis Lane at 2:27 PM EDT. Those spotter-verified observations align with the period of the strongest radar reflectivity and the NWS warning area for the same corridor.
The sequence shows a storm that maintained repeated hail-producing cores as it tracked across the metro. Early alerts concentrated in the 1:55 PM–3:00 PM window. Later warnings continued at smaller hail sizes through the evening, reflecting intermittent redeveloping cells along the system's path.
Surface impact reports were concentrated near the mid-afternoon core where spotters observed one-inch stones. Local reports from Dysartsville and the Landis Lane area described hail accumulation sufficient to produce visible pitting on vehicle surfaces and dent patterns on exposed metal, according to the field notes accompanying the spotter messages.
Radar-detected larger cores earlier in the sequence suggest pockets of heavier hail fell along the same track, though no public field report documented the largest radar return. NWS warning-only alerts continued across multiple neighborhoods after the mid-afternoon peak, indicating the warning area encompassed a broad swath of the Jefferson metro rather than a single narrow corridor of damage.
