A severe hail storm tracked through Dousman, Wisconsin on July 27, 2026, producing 5-inch hail and multiple radar-detected hail cores across the metro. The event generated 116 NWS alerts and a series of spotter-verified field reports from suburban locations.
The event began with NWS warning-only alerts early in the day and grew into a long-lived multi-zone storm by mid-morning. The first NWS warning-only alert issued at 7:47 AM CDT reported quarter-size hail. Dual-polarization radar began showing larger cores late morning, with radar-detected hail signatures appearing consistently from about 10:42 AM CDT through the afternoon. Midday and afternoon radar outputs included repeated cores measuring well over one inch in diameter and multiple radar readings above two inches.
Field reports tracked alongside the radar signal. A cluster of social-media photo reports at 11:05 AM CDT included images of roughly 2.75-inch stones, timestamps estimated from radar. Trained spotters reported hen-egg to golf-ball size hail near Clarendon Hills and Minooka in late morning and mid-afternoon. Around 3:41 PM CDT, a spotter near Four Seasons Park in Shorewood submitted photos showing hail stones at least 3 inches in diameter that were collected and frozen two minutes after falling. Those spotter submissions coincided with strong radar cores over the same corridor.
Alerts continued into the evening, alternating between NWS warning-only messages and radar-detected hail alerts. Multiple radar returns and repeated NWS warnings indicate the storm maintained concentrated cores while translating across the metro through early evening. The dataset for this page aggregates those NWS warnings, radar detections, and spotter reports across the affected zones.
Surface observations and submitted photos show concentrated surface impact in Shorewood and scattered large-stone reports across suburban corridors. Photographs taken at Four Seasons Park in Shorewood at 3:41 PM CDT show intact large stones on collection surfaces. Social-media images timestamped to 11:05 AM CDT show separate large stones in a different part of the metro. Trained spotters relayed hen-egg and two-inch reports near Clarendon Hills at 11:56 AM CDT and similar 2-inch reports via mPING at 12:04 PM CDT. Multiple independent spotter relays around 3:35–3:46 PM CDT put hen-egg to larger stones near Minooka and adjacent suburbs.
Radar-detected hail cores line up with the cluster of spotter submissions. Midday radar outputs registered several cores above two inches near the same corridors where spotters later documented large stones. The storm produced repeated NWS warning-only alerts across residential and park areas, indicating sustained convective cores passed over populated zones. Submitted photographs provide physical evidence of substantial stone sizes in at least two distinct time windows and locations within the metro.

Try the Free Demo →No centralized asset-loss inventory is included on this page. Damage evidence here is limited to photographed hail samples, spotter measurements, and the spatial pattern of radar cores and NWS alerts. Contractors and claims professionals should use the location-specific times and photo evidence cited above when prioritizing inspections.
Prioritize inspections in Shorewood and along the midday-to-afternoon radar cores. The photo submissions collected near Four Seasons Park at 3:41 PM CDT correspond with one of the strongest spotter and radar clusters. Start with photographic documentation of roof and exterior surfaces using GPS-tagged images and a dated scale next to any hail samples. Note the timestamp and location for each image to correlate to the radar and spotter timeline.
Inspect vulnerable materials first: asphalt shingles for granule loss and bruising, metal panels for dent patterns, skylights and sunroofs for impact fractures, and soft metals such as gutters and HVAC housings for indentations. For vehicles documented by owners, take wide and close-up photos of door skin, hoods, and glass. Preserve any collected hail samples in a sealed bag with a timestamped photo; several spotter submissions included preserved samples tied to exact times.
Coordinate early temporary measures where glazing or roof openings are present to prevent secondary water intrusion. Prepare scope notes that reference the local spotter reports and the times listed above. For precise hail track mapping and to identify the exact damage zone for claims and field crews, see the Strike Map.
