Heber, AZ – August 4, 2026 – Hail reached 2.05 inches during a multi-alert late-afternoon storm that produced several radar-detected cores and multiple NWS warnings. The event is concluded.
The storm affected the Heber area during late afternoon and early evening. Six NWS alerts were issued for the event and issued as follows: 2:05 PM MST (21:05 UTC) – 1.2-inch hail detected by dual-polarization radar; 3:00 PM MST (22:00 UTC) – 1.54-inch radar-detected hail; 3:26 PM MST (22:26 UTC) – 1.01-inch radar-detected hail; 4:22 PM MST (23:22 UTC) – 1.38-inch radar-detected hail; 4:31 PM MST (23:31 UTC) – 0.88-inch hail reported under NWS warning only; and 4:57 PM MST (23:57 UTC) – 1.00-inch hail reported under NWS warning only.
Early cores were identified by dual-polarization NEXRAD hail detection. Later alerts included storm coverage under NWS warning polygons without additional radar-indicated size increases. The radar-derived alerts show multiple concentrated swaths rather than a single isolated cell. Storm activity has ended and no active alerts remain for the Heber metro.
Peak stones reached just over golf-ball size. Stones in that range commonly dent vehicle body panels, break sunroofs and skylights, and cause localized loss of granules on asphalt shingles. Areas that saw repeated radar cores are at higher risk for cumulative roof surface damage and metal panel deformation.
Smaller stones in the 0.75–1.5-inch range tend to crack or bruise vinyl siding, dent aluminum trim, and abrade solar panel glass coatings, accelerating long-term degradation. Properties with exposed recreational vehicles, patio furniture, and unprotected glazing should be inspected for impact marks and hairline fractures that can allow moisture intrusion.
