Late afternoon into early evening on August 6, NWS issued a warning area at 5:39 PM CDT (22:39 UTC) after dual-polarization radar indicated hail near 1.02 inches. The event moved through the El Paso metro in a brief, concentrated path and concluded within hours. Radar returns show a focused hail swath over the single reporting zone for this storm. Local measurements and post-storm assessment returned a maximum hail measurement of 1.34 inches.
Hail reaching 1.34 inches in diameter typically produces vehicle panel dents, localized impact damage to asphalt shingles, and potential cracking of exposed single-pane glazing.
