Happy Jack, AZ — August 7, 2026. Active storms are tracking through multiple zones and producing hail up to 1.64 inches in diameter.
Storm cells moved into the Happy Jack area in the mid-afternoon and continued into the early evening. Dual-polarization radar detected hail at the following times and sizes in the local warning area:
Radar-detected hail measurements across the aggregated zones include a peak value of 1.64 inches. The storm is active and continuing to produce convective returns consistent with localized hail cores. Expect additional updates as radar scans and warning areas are revised.
Properties currently beneath the warning area and radar-detected hail track are at elevated risk for impact damage. Vehicles exposed within the mapped path are at high risk of panel denting. Unprotected roofing, particularly three-tab asphalt shingles, is likely to show granule loss and bruising where hail exceeded 1.0 inch.
At sizes above 1.5 inches, expect a higher probability of cracked skylights, damaged soffit and fascia, and punctures to roof coverings that already show wear. Glass on solar panels and skylights is vulnerable where the storm passed directly overhead. Exterior siding made of vinyl or thin metal may show deformation or splitting in populated swathes of the track.
Safety is the first priority. Crews should not begin exterior inspections while hail-producing cores remain within the NWS warning area. Once the storm passes, perform a rapid visual triage from ground level to document denting and broken glass. Capture geotagged photos and video of vehicle fleets, roof fields, and panel arrays before any temporary repairs are made.
Plan for targeted roof inspections in areas where radar detection showed 1.5 inches or larger. Prioritize tarping and temporary coverings for open penetrations and broken glazing to prevent water intrusion. Verify customer identity and permit access before dispatch. Coordinate with adjusters and schedule full rooftop assessments when conditions are safe and daylight permits.
