The storm moved through the Fort Stockton area in the late afternoon hours of August 12. The National Weather Service issued an initial warning at 3:18 PM CDT that referenced hail at about 0.88 inch. A later alert at 3:47 PM CDT was supported by dual-polarization radar indicating hail around 1.04 inch. Radar-derived hail detections formed a coherent swath through portions of the metro. The NWS warning polygon covered the general warning area. Field reports and radar data indicate the event ended within an hour of the first alert.
