Haswell, CO, August 13, 2026 — A severe thunderstorm is tracking through the Haswell metro area and is producing hail up to 2.11" in diameter while generating multiple NWS warning-area alerts.
The storm entered the Haswell NWS warning area in the late afternoon and is continuing to produce hail. Alerts and detections span from mid-afternoon into the early evening. Key alerts and detections include:
Multiple detections were radar-detected by dual-polarization NEXRAD. Several alerts consisted of NWS warning-only entries where radar evidence was not present in the posted alert. The storm is active and continuing to move through the Haswell warning area as of the latest alerts.
Observed hail sizes in the Haswell warning area range from 0.88" to 2.11". Hail in the lower end of that range commonly causes cosmetic damage to vegetation and minor dents on unprotected metal surfaces. Hail above roughly 1.5" increases the likelihood of denting to vehicle body panels, damage to vinyl and aluminum siding, and granular loss on asphalt roof shingles in impacted portions of the Haswell warning area.
At the upper reported sizes present during this event, expect localized shingle fracture on older or weakened roofing, cracked exterior fixtures such as skylights, and larger dents on vehicles parked in the open.
