Victor, CO — August 26, 2026: A multi-zone severe thunderstorm produced hail up to 2.67 inches and moved across the Victor area from late afternoon into the night. The event has concluded.
The storm generated 23 NWS alerts between 2:49 PM MDT and 10:54 PM MDT on August 26. Most alerts were radar-detected by dual-polarization NEXRAD processing; two alerts were issued as NWS warning only at 3:34 PM MDT and 6:37 PM MDT. One report at 5:00 PM MDT was spotter-reported for 1.00 inch.
Key radar-derived hail returns occurred in the late afternoon and early evening. Notable radar returns include 2.41 inches at 5:52 PM MDT, 2.27 inches at 7:29 PM MDT, 2.07 inches at 2:49 PM MDT, and 1.95 inches at 6:01 PM MDT. Several additional dual-polarization radar detections clustered between 1.0 and 1.75 inches from mid-afternoon into the evening. The radar picture shows multiple concentrated cells along the storm track, producing repeated hail detections as the system translated through the Victor metro area.
The local spotter network submitted a 1.00-inch hail report at 5:00 PM MDT that aligns with nearby radar returns. The sequence of alerts and radar returns indicates repeated hail-producing cores rather than a single isolated pulse. The storm is no longer active in the Victor area.
Observed radar returns and the spotter report indicate hail sizes ranged from around 1.00 inch to a peak of 2.67 inches. Radar returns above roughly 2.0 inches coincided with timestamps when large-ball hail was mapped along the track.
Hail in the 2.0–2.75-inch range poses a high risk to parked vehicles, unprotected skylights, and older roofing materials. Expect denting of vehicle panels, shattered or cracked glass on exposed windows, and potential shingle loss on steep residential roofs where asphalt shingles are aged. Hail in the 1.0–1.75-inch range typically causes cosmetic vehicle and siding damage and can break single-pane windows under direct impact.
Damage potential in Victor is concentrated where radar-detected cores passed during the 5:00–7:30 PM MDT window. No automated damage inventory is provided here. Field inspection is required to verify affected addresses and construct a repair scope.
Inspect roofs for missing granules, cracked or split shingles, and exposed underlayment. Prioritize properties with direct line-of-sight to the radar-identified hail cores between 5:00 PM MDT and 7:30 PM MDT. Photograph all observed damage with scale references and GPS-enabled timestamps. Record vehicle and outbuilding damage separately from main-structure findings.
Tarping and temporary coverings should target compromised skylights and open roof penetrations first. Replace or document any broken glass before roof work to prevent water intrusion during repairs. Prepare both cosmetic and structural repair estimates; provide clear before-and-after imagery for insurance submittals. Coordinate safety plans for crews working on steep roofs and brief teams on hail-scattered debris hazards.
