StormSnipe recorded hail in Schuyler, NE on August 30, 2026, with a peak radar-detected size of 1.25 inches during an overnight convective event.
A sequence of four NWS warnings tracked this system through the Schuyler warning area overnight. Warnings and times (local): 1:51 AM CDT (06:51 UTC), 2:24 AM CDT (07:24 UTC), 4:16 AM CDT (09:16 UTC), and 4:48 AM CDT (09:48 UTC). Each NWS alert cited 0.75-inch hail and carried NWS warning only confidence.
Radar returns across the aggregated zones later showed stronger hail signatures than the warning hail size. The event is concluded. StormSnipe aggregated multiple warning-area zones for this report to reflect the overnight storm evolution across the Schuyler metro.
Within the NWS warning area, the alert-sized hail measure corresponds to a 0.75-inch penny-sized reference. Radar-derived returns in parts of the aggregated footprint exceeded that value, reaching 1.25 inches in peak returns. The observed size range increases the likelihood of surface and exterior impacts in exposed locations inside the warning area.
Damage reports were not included in the NWS alert sequence. For properties inside the warning area, expect a higher probability of cosmetic vehicle dents, pitted glass on skylights and patio furniture, and loss of shingle granules on older asphalt roofs where exposure and pre-existing wear are present. Metal roofs and siding panels are at increased risk of superficial dents when strikes land on exposed, unsupported sections.
Prioritize exterior assessments for vehicles, rooftop coverings, gutters, HVAC condenser units, and exposed siding in the NWS warning area. Use a methodical roof-walk or drone survey to document granule loss, punctures, and displaced ridge cap material. Photograph damage with scale references and note exact addresses within the warning area to match later insurance and repair workflows.
Safety and scheduling guidance: avoid unprotected ladder work during early daylight hours if moisture remains on surfaces. Secure tarps only after confirming structural soundness and following local safety protocols. Coordinate with property owners on temporary mitigation while documenting condition to support claims and repair estimates.
