Leupp, AZ experienced hail on September 11, 2026, with a peak size of 1.63 inches and a multi-zone radar-detected hail track. The event produced 13 NWS alerts from 12:10 PM MST to 10:03 PM MST and has concluded.
The storm developed midday and produced repeated hail signatures across the Leupp area. NWS alerts began at 12:10 PM MST and continued intermittently until 10:03 PM MST. Thirteen alerts were issued in total. Ten alerts included dual-polarization radar detections. Three alerts were issued on the basis of NWS warning criteria without radar hail size retrievals.
Radar-detected hail sizes clustered near coin-sized values in multiple warning areas during the early and mid-afternoon period, with additional radar returns in late afternoon and early evening. The sequence of alerts shows an initial radar detection at 12:10 PM MST, peak alerting activity in the early afternoon, and renewed radar returns between 3 PM and 6 PM local time. The event concluded with a final radar-detected alert at 10:03 PM MST.
Storm behavior was episodic. Several warning polygons tracked overlapping paths across the same corridors near Leupp, producing multiple passes of hail-indicative radar returns over portions of the community.
Radar-detected hail reports during the event were concentrated around roughly 1.0 to 1.3 inches on multiple alerts. Hail in that size band can produce surface impacts consistent with denting to vehicle panels and loss of shingle granules on asphalt roofs. Local exposure in Leupp includes residential roofs with older asphalt shingles and parked vehicles in unshielded locations. Those assets are the most likely to show visible cosmetic damage from the observed hail sizes.
No spotter-verified damage reports are included in the alert sequence provided. Contractors and property owners in Leupp should prioritize visual inspections of vehicle bodywork, metal siding, HVAC housings, and roof surfaces for granule loss, bruising, or punctures. Document any findings with dated photos and measured hail sizes when possible.
Inspect roofs systematically. Start at the eaves and work toward ridges. Look for missing granules, split or curled shingles, and localized bruising consistent with the radar-detected hail sizes. Record locations with GPS or address-level notes and take high-resolution photos showing scale. For vehicles, photograph dents with a reference object and note vehicle position and cover status at time of storm when available.
Check rooftop equipment and solar arrays. HVAC condenser fins, satellite dishes, and PV modules are vulnerable at the observed hail sizes. Test affected equipment for operational faults before recommending replacement. Prepare repair estimates that separate cosmetic bodywork, shingle replacement, and functional equipment replacement. Maintain standard jobsite safety protocols when working on roofs and elevated equipment.
