Madill, OK — September 27, 2026. An early-evening multi-zone thunderstorm produced large hail across the Madill metro, with radar indicating the peak stones exceeded quarter size and a string of NWS alerts covering the event.
The storm generated three separate NWS alerts over a two-and-a-half-hour period. At 7:31 PM CDT, dual-polarization radar (NEXRAD hail detection) flagged hail in the Madill area with the largest radar-detected returns. A subsequent NWS warning at 7:58 PM CDT extended coverage for hail near the metro. A final NWS warning at 9:58 PM CDT issued for renewed hail potential farther downstream. The event is concluded.
Storm reports are delivered as a multi-zone aggregate for the Madill metro. The first radar detection preceded the 7:58 PM warning by 27 minutes. Later warnings indicate the storm produced additional hail cores after the primary radar return. Where radar flagged the largest returns, the alerts described hail sizes that warrant on-the-ground follow-up.
Stones larger than a U.S. quarter coin but smaller than a golf ball typically pose moderate risk to exposed surfaces. Expect denting of unprotected vehicle panels and potential bruising or granule loss on asphalt shingles. Metal gutters, aluminum siding, and HVAC condenser fins are susceptible to dents at this size range.
Broken window glass is uncommon at this scale but possible on already weakened or improperly secured glazing. Solar panels with known microfractures or factory defects are at higher risk of cell damage. Roof inspections should prioritize older or weathered coverings where granule loss can accelerate degradation.
Prioritize documented inspections in the hours to days after the event. Photograph hail impacts with a visible timestamp and location reference. Record vehicle dents, shingle granule loss, siding dents, and condenser fin damage separately. Note any preexisting conditions to distinguish new hail impact from prior wear.
For temporary mitigation, secure exposed roofing areas with industry-standard tarping where necessary and safe. On roofs, check for lifted tabs, exposed underlayment, and concentrated granule loss along ridges and gutters. For roof replacements or repair estimates, list impact type, measured hail evidence, and local NWS warning times. Follow electrical safety protocols near damaged solar arrays and HVAC equipment.
